About
castlepoint is a Highland. It's the working name for all interactive works of pointcastle, experimenting freely across genres in Godot and Roblox.
castlepoint is the studio: the banner and body of work. pointcastle is the individual who founded and directs it. The two are distinct and should not be used interchangeably.
A Highland is a director-led ecosystem. What defines it is that the director runs the major operations directly and delegates from there, rather than simply managing or assembling others to do the work. pointcastle appoints members to address specific problems. Contributors are always welcome and credited for their work, and will be with pay once the paid contributor agreement process returns. See the Team page.
Homage shouldn't stop at callbacks. We build new games as though they were released within their own era, and we aim for something alternative as much as it is nostalgic - work that feels present and authentic to a specific time and aesthetic.
We aren't tied to a single genre. We experiment, follow what works, and build for a dedicated niche rather than the mass market. We create what we love, community feedback helps shape our direction, and our projects are developed in Godot and Roblox.
We believe in small teams and open collaboration. We support affordable games and free software, and we don't use DRM. Provided fair use is respected and credit is given, you're welcome to build on our work.
Members are brought on as needed, when a project runs short on skills or capacity. Contributions are always welcome, see Apply.
